Mr. Jeffrey L. Langhout

Mr. Jeffrey L. Langhout is the director for the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Aviation & Missile Center and the acting DEVCOM deputy to the commanding general. In his role as director, he leads a workforce of more than 11,000 engineers, scientists, researchers and support staff in delivering advanced technologies as required by the Army’s strategic priorities and support to its Cross-Functional Teams.
Prior to becoming AvMC director, Mr. Langhout served as the DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center director from 2018 to 2021. A civil servant since 1986, he worked within the Army Threat Systems Management Office, CH-47F Product Management Office, and Cargo Helicopters Project Office, before joining AvMC in 2013, where he held various leadership positions until he departed for GVSC.
Mr. Langhout received his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Auburn University, and his master’s in engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
His awards and honors include the AUSA Civilian of the Year (finalist), 2011; Honorable Order of St. Michael, Bronze, 2006; and Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, 2004. He is a member of the Association of the United States Army, Army Aviation Association of America and the American Helicopter Society.
