Command Sgt. Maj. Brian D. Haydt was born in Palmerton, Pennsylvania. He entered the United States Army in January 1995 and attended one-station unit training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he graduated as a 19K, Armor Crewman.

CSM Haydt served in leadership positions from Tank Commander to Command Sergeant Major, including Command Sergeant Major of 1st Battalion, 61st Infantry Regiment, 165th Infantry Brigade, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Operations Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major of 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division; Command Sergeant Major of 3rd Battalion, 395 Armored Regiment, 188th Infantry Brigade, Fort Stewart, Georgia; and Command Sergeant Major, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. His most recent assignment was Command Sergeant Major, Operations Group, National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California.

CSM Haydt’s previous deployments include Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the Implementation Force, Operation Desert Spring in Kuwait, Operation Iraqi Freedom I, III, and V-VII, Operation Enduring Freedom IX, Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo, Operation Spartan Shield in Kuwait.
